How to look good without melting? - Pleated khaki shorts, light green crewneck t-shirt, sandals with neon yellow socks.
June just began and it is sweltering. Summer is pissed, and it has arrived with a vengeance. After what felt like a week of solid spring weather, we have been in the 90s four straight days here in Saint Louis, setting a record for the earliest in the year that has happened here. And we have four more days of this B.S. heatwave, and then we will be merely back to average which is in the 80s.
As long as it is “hot af”, I’m wearing shorts even while in public, pasty winter & spring legs be damned (there is only one way for them to get a healthy glow, isn’t there?). And for good measure, I’ll even throw in some Ralph Lauren neon yellow athletic socks with my so-comfortable-I-could wear-them-all-day Ecco sandals.
I wore this outfit today to the Galleria (to pick up more shorts, of course) and the grocery store.
These particular khaki shorts are 100% cotton (rare these days). I bought them in 2020, when that was still available. But today even the store I bought them at makes the new version of these shorts in a cotton/spandex blend. Which is good in some ways (Spandex and elastane are commonly blended with cotton to give the garment a stretch which is really nice, and I miss it when I go back to something that does not have it. These 100% cotton shorts have no give at all. Not good after dinner when you want to do a photo shoot!)
To tell you the truth, the khaki shorts/green shirt combo is not my favorite. But these are the only shorts I had that fit, until today. I picked up some interesting new colors that I think will work better with shirts like these.
